Historic Home Addition and Remodel, City of Boulder involved the thoughtful renovation and expansion of a century-old residence located in one of Boulder's historic districts. The project preserved the architectural integrity of the original structure while introducing modern amenities to enhance functionality and comfort. The addition seamlessly blends with the existing home through the use of historically appropriate materials and design details, while the remodel revitalizes the interior spaces to meet contemporary living standards. Careful attention was given to maintaining the building’s historic character, respecting both the architectural heritage and the neighborhood’s aesthetic.
As project lead, I was responsible for coordinating the renovation efforts, working closely with preservation specialists, architects, and city officials to navigate the stringent guidelines associated with historic properties. My role encompassed planning and executing construction phases, ensuring that all modifications aligned with local historic preservation requirements. Additionally, I oversaw budget management, contractor coordination, and client communication, fostering collaboration to achieve a successful integration of old and new. This project deepened my experience in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and managing complex renovation projects within regulatory frameworks.
